Samenvatting

Gerry Conlon was politiek niet actief in Noord Ierland, maar door zijn zwerftochten door de stad wordt hij verdacht van lidmaatschap bij de IRA. Uit veiligheidsoverwegingen stuurt zijn vader hem naar Londen, waar hij ook is als op 5 oktober 1974 een bomaanslag wordt gepleegd en een hippie hem en zijn vrienden aangeeft als mogelijke daders. Door de nieuwe anti-terrorismewet worden ze gemarteld zonder officiële aanklacht en worden ze een zondebok voor de Brits-Ierse kwestie.
