Samenvatting

Producer Lowell Bergman van het programma '60 minutes' ruikt een verhaal wanneer Jeff Wigand, voormalig onderzoeker bij tabaksfabrikant Brown & Williamson, niet met hem wil praten. Wanneer de fabrikant Wigand dwingt om een overeenkomst na te komen, besluit hij toch om Bergman in vertrouwen te nemen en de waarheid over zijn werkgever naar buiten te brengen. Zowel Bergman en Wigand komen er echter achter dat dit niet zo makkelijk is als gedacht.
